With the rise of contactless payments and instant bank transfers, cash seems to have become a curiosity. Nevertheless, notes and coins have a discreet but very real place in many French households. Whether it’s to manage the budget down to the last cent or as a precautionary measure for unforeseen events, many are wondering: Is it permissible to keep cash at home? Why keep cash at home?
