Low Carb Baked Alpine Pork Chops with Cheese On Top

Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
Season the pork chops with salt, pepper, garlic powder, thyme, and smoked paprika on both sides.
In a large oven-safe skillet, heat the olive oil over medium-high heat.
Sear the pork chops in the skillet for about 3-4 minutes on each side, until they are golden brown.
Transfer the skillet to the preheated oven and bake for 15-20 minutes, or until the pork chops reach an internal temperature of 145°F (63°C).
Remove the skillet from the oven and sprinkle the Gruyère and Parmesan cheese evenly over the pork chops.
Return the skillet to the oven and bake for an additional 5 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and bubbly.
Let the pork chops rest for a few minutes before serving. Garnish with fresh parsley if desired.
Variations & Tips
For a different flavor profile, try using smoked gouda or cheddar cheese instead of Gruyère. You can also add a layer of sautéed mushrooms or caramelized onions on top of the pork chops before adding the cheese for extra depth of flavor. If you prefer a spicier dish, add a pinch of cayenne pepper to the seasoning mix. For a more herbaceous touch, consider adding fresh rosemary or sage to the seasoning.
