Marinate the Beef: In a bowl, combine the soy sauce, oyster sauce, hoisin sauce, sesame oil, sugar, and black pepper. Add the beef slices and marinate for at least 30 minutes, preferably longer for enhanced flavor.
Stir-Fry the Vegetables: Heat 1 tablespoon of vegetable oil in a wok or large skillet over high heat. Add the bell peppers and onion, stir-frying for about 3-5 minutes until they are just tender but still crisp. Remove them from the pan and set aside.
Cook the Beef: In the same wok, add the remaining tablespoon of oil. Add the minced garlic and stir-fry quickly for about 30 seconds, then add the marinated beef. Stir-fry for about 2-3 minutes, or until the beef is nearly cooked through.
Combine and Thicken: Return the bell peppers and onions to the wok. Add the cornstarch mixture to the wok and stir everything together. Cook for another minute or two until the sauce has thickened and everything is heated through.
Serve: Sprinkle with sesame seeds before serving. Serve hot with steamed rice or noodles.
This quick and flavorful dish is perfect for a busy weeknight dinner. The vibrant colors of the bell peppers not only make it visually appealing but also add a sweet and crunchy texture that complements the savory beef perfectly. Enjoy your meal!
