Spooky Black Velvet Halloween Cake

Halloween-themed sprinkles
Halloween candies or gummies
Black food coloring gel for additional decorations
Directions:
Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour two 9-inch round cake pans.
In a large bowl, sift together flour, sugar, cocoa powder, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
In another bowl, whisk together buttermilk, vegetable oil, eggs, black food coloring gel, vanilla extract, and apple cider vinegar until well combined.
Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and mix until smooth and well combined.
Divide the batter evenly between the prepared cake pans.
Bake for 25-30 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
Remove cakes from the oven and cool in the pans for 10 minutes. Then, transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.
For the Cream Cheese Frosting:
In a large bowl, beat cream cheese and butter until smooth and creamy.
Add powdered sugar and vanilla extract, and beat until fluffy and well combined.
