5.Decongestant

Thyme is considered a powerful decongestant and is useful for a variety of medical conditions.

According to Thierry Thévenin, herbal producer and nutritionist Dr. Laurent Chevallier, consumption in the form of herbal tea would be particularly useful for the respiratory system.

An opinion that Christelle Lassort, alternative practitioner and alternative medicine specialist, also shares. She reminds that thyme “is effective for many ENT and respiratory diseases”.

The latter would have expectorant properties that promote rejection. A great help for colds, coughs and asthma.

Pharmacist Christine Cieur-Tranquart recommends combining the antitussive, antiviral and antiseptic properties of the plant with an anti-inflammatory and soothing plant for infectious or viral coughs.

Warnings

The use of thyme is not recommended for people on anticoagulant treatment or in case of pregnancy.

Please note that it should not be taken for longer than 3 weeks, otherwise there is a risk of disorders, irritation or high blood pressure.
