Directions:
Preheat and Prepare: Start by preheating the oven to 400°F. Line a large baking sheet with aluminum foil and spray it with nonstick cooking spray to prevent sticking.
Prepare the meatball mixture: In a large bowl, combine the breadcrumbs and milk, making sure the breadcrumbs are completely coated. Let it sit for about 5 minutes until the liquid is almost absorbed. Add the eggs, salt, pepper, ⅓ of the Parmesan, parsley, basil, and oregano, stirring until well combined. Gently fold in the ground beef until blended, then shape the mixture into 2½-inch balls.
Bake meatballs: Place the meatballs on the prepared baking sheet and bake for 20 to 25 minutes until golden brown and cooked through. For a deeper color, roast for an additional 2 to 3 minutes.
Prepare the sauce: While the meatballs are baking, prepare the sauce by heating store-bought marinara sauce or making your own homemade version.
Assemble and Bake: Coat a skillet with canola oil or nonstick cooking spray. Spread 1 cup sauce on skillet, sprinkle with ⅓ grated Parmesan, then arrange meatballs with space between them. Pour the rest of the sauce over the meatballs and sprinkle with another third of the Parmesan. Transfer skillet to oven and bake at 375°F for 20-30 minutes until sauce is hot and bubbly.
Add cheese: Top each meatball with a slice of fresh mozzarella and the rest of the Parmesan cheese. Continue baking until cheese is melted and lightly browned.
Serve: Let the Parmesan meatballs cool for 5 to 10 minutes before serving. Pair it with a toasted Italian baguette and a salad for a complete and satisfying meal.
