ground sausage, one pound
Mustard powder, 1 teaspoon
1/3 teaspoon of kosher salt
whisked eggs, four big ones
2-quarts of full-fat milk
Toasted and cubed white bread, six pieces
shredded mild Cheddar cheese, measuring 1 cup
The Best Way to Prepare a Christmas Morning Casserole
In a medium-sized frying pan, crumble the sausage.
Drain after browning evenly over medium heat.
Combine the milk, eggs, salt, mustard powder, and mustard in a medium bowl.
Combine the sausage, bread pieces, and cheese in a bowl and mix until everything is coated.
Transfer to an oiled 9×13 inch baking dish.
Put in the fridge for at least 8 hours, preferably overnight, covered.
The oven should be preheated at 350 degrees.
Roast, covered, for 45 to 60 minutes.
Take the lid off and lower the heat to 325 degrees.
Keep baking for another half an hour, or until the filling is firm.
Preparation for serving: slice.
